I've just booked flights back to Aus for next month.

I'm flying out in the evening of Thursday the 18th of May, arriving in Melbourne on Saturday the 20th, at 7am.

I'll stick around for 9 days, then fly out at midnight on the 29th.

Not very long, but it'll be long enough to sort out my visa, drop by my cousins wedding, meet my new nephew. I might even get a chance to catch up with a few people while I'm there.

Yay! :D

PS: probably bit a bit out of it when i start work the day after i arrive back in london, but, hey, its all fun :)
PPS: still no takers on where that title comes from?

Seeing some people whinged, I did a little jiggery-pokery-black-magic, and now there's a little hourglass when you expand the treeview, and it loads the menu items in the navigation panel. You know, that thing on the left. Go on, try it. I promise you'll like it. Maybe. Okay, you'll be seriously underwhelmed, but hey, I like it.

Overheard in the office always gives me a chuckle.

Especially this one (or maybe I'm just twisted :)).

Thought it was about time I blogged about my latest toy:

T-Mobile MDA Vario

Its a T-Mobile MDA Vario (also known as a HTC Wizard).

Slide out keyboard, internet access via wi-fi or GRPS, full windows mobile o/s, so media player, word, excel, lots of games, and all the mod cons.

Very nice piece of kit actually, just not quite as stable as I'd like. But, the benefits far outweigh the negatives, so it all works brilliantly.

Best bits I like are the syncing of email, contacts, calendar and tasks with my email account, so I'm up to date all the time. And if I'm bored, I can sit there and reply to emails. Also managed to find myself a sudoku game as well, so thats a good way to occupy myself on the train.

Now just got to get the extra GPS receiver and software, and I'll be laughing :).

£700 poorer
1 week of wages that wont be earned
1 week in Australia richer

Think I come out okay on that one :)

Temperature overnight lately has been about 6 or 7 degrees.

Problem is that I've been sleeping with the window open.

Not good. I'm becoming acclimatised to English weather! NOOO!!!

Something he said on friday:

"Gradually, its just me sailing into deep deep space, just me and a pig..."

I fit right in round here :)

A brilliant Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller the other day:

Non Sequitur by Wiley - Lawyers and the truth.

Hmmm... Was there some warning put out about me or something? Just recently, quite a few people haven't responded to emails that I've sent them. Is strange, cos they're all pretty good at replying. Very annoying too.

Or have I just started smelling really bad (by email?), and no ones told me???

Just spent a bit of time updating www.oneroundpebble.com today. Now the navigation bar on the left should be a lot quicker to load, as it now dynamically loads the child nodes. Hopefully it also works on more people's computers.

Had to fight a bit with various asp.net 2.0 configuration bits to get it all working properly, and various other fun stuff, but it all seems to work now.

If anythings broken, let me know!

Was quite amused the other day when I sat down to watch The World Is Not Enough (you know, the James Bond one), and they have that chase scene with the boats, right near the start:

James Bond - The World Is Not Enough and The Millenium Dome

The amusing thing is that I can look out my window and see that monstrosity dome... :). Just one of the good things about living in London :).

Just spoke to DHL to ask them why my latest parcel hasn't been delievered.

Apparently, my area is a no-go area. Their drivers kept getting mugged.

They'll deliver to Baghdad, but not to Canning Town... Crap...

Funny how slack sales assistants (checkout chicks) are in the UK. Most of the time they've got chairs, don't even bother greeting you, and almost never put stuff in bags for you. They'll sit there and wait (looking extremely bored) while you pack your own stuff into bags, not even serving the next customer.

The thing is, no-one seems to think this is a bad thing. Back when I was a checkout chick, we'd have been shot if we treated our customers that badly...

(Rant over... Now back to our regular scheduled programming...)
