Personally, would’ve thought that you really wouldn’t need a sign for this… Would’ve thought it would be quite obvious.

Grass area that way

Though, that said, there isn’t actually a surfeit of green areas round here… Maybe some people don’t know what grass is?

What does this say about my local pub, when they put a sign on the door like this:

Monday only, we shut at 7pm. Sorry Ron

Poor Ron.

Was out and about a while back, wandering around the Thames Barrier Park, and saw the following:

Nill Scrap Value...

Was more than a bit disconcerting… What is the world coming to?

The urban dictionary defines blog as:

A meandering, blatantly uninteresting online diary that gives the author the illusion that people are interested in their stupid, pathetic life. Consists of such riveting entries as "homework sucks" and "I slept until noon today."

Not as true as it used to be, but still, very true.

And yet, here I am, inflicting it upon you. Still. (Queue evil laugh).

Slightly off-topic (but then again, dont actually have a topic, so how can it be off it?), but I quite like the words of Grandfather's Clock by Henry Clay Work.

Wow - some people are amazingly talented.

The winning entry for the crestock.com photoshop competition:

Go check it out - some amazing images there.

Some nice photos I found a while back: Josef Hoflehner - Landscape Photographs.

Apparently he's got an exhibition on until 29 February at Atlas Gallery, Dorset Street, London.

Just have to find the time to get down there!

Hmmm... Not so impressed that Australia has just joined China in censoring the internet...

Censorship is a slippery slope to start down.

Happy new year, boys and girls!

Hope you had a great 2007, and an even better 2008!

(oh, and hope your head isn't too bad after the new years celebrations!)

Will try and post a bit more on the blog next year - now that i'm officially unemployed, have a few plans on what I want to do with the site and a few things to post. Still got the trips to Egypt and Africa left to post about, and a gazillion and one pics to share...

Anyway, if i haven't spoken to you in a while, hopefully catch up (or at least speak!) soon.

I'd pretty much resigned myself to the fact that no-one actually reads my blog anymore, when I did a quick check and realised that I hadn't actually enabled comments... So, kinda makes it hard to comment.

So, enabled. Hopefully, it doesn't kick off a deluge of spam...

Feel free to go back and add your comments now Big Smile

Finished up at UBS last week, after a four month stint there. Was quite a good place to work, though getting to know the team was hard work though. 'Bout half the work was interesting and enjoyable, but the other half ranged from passable to downright mind-numbingly boring.

But, the project I was on finished up (well, the budget did at least), so that was me out of there. There was talk of getting an extension (one department (in Sydney!) really liked me and how much i was helping them out, so they were trying to see if they could 'sponsor' me to continue working on their stuff), but it would've been more of the boring stuff, rather than the interesting stuff, so I politely declined...

Learnt some good stuff there, but the important bit was getting my foot in the door of an investment bank - once in, it opens a whole lot more doors for more contracts, so looking good. And, really, the money wasn't bad either :)

But, I'm still working for the consulting company that I worked through - up until Thursday at least. Doing some pretty boring stuff that's really not motivating me. But, hey, they're paying me for it... :)

The best thing is on Saturday morning, I head off to that place that's full of sand and pointy things and the giant *** cat (aka Egypt). Definitely looking forward to the time off, and the travel. We (Paul, Lyds, Hannah and me) are doing a tour there - we couldn't be bothered with the hassle of organising things ourselves. Means we get a decent guide as well who can tell us cool and (hopefully) interesting things about what we're looking at. Also includes 4 days in Dahab, so we get a good relax as well, and some diving as well. Definitely looking forward to it - I think the cameras are definitely going to get a workout! Also good to catch up with Paul and Lyds - been a while since I've seen them (well, excluding the last 2 days where they crashed in my lounge...).

After the holiday, its back to look for a new contract. Not that I want to, but things like that making things like eating and living easier. Hopefully I'll find one that scores higher on the interestingness scale. Fingers crossed at least.

Anyway, that's probably enough for now - I'm gonna try and blog a bit more, but, really, no promises... Just depends what state of mind I'm in (yeah, yeah, that's enough from the peanut gallery!). I've got at least one more post on the tip of my tongue (fingers?), so I might get that out next...

I know its never going to happen, but isn't it about time that the UN brought sanctions against the US?

I mean, they are the worlds worst polluter, they've refused to sign the Kyoto agreement, and frankly, they're more dangerous that North Korea.

Oh well, one can dream.

Seems I've been AWOL from the blog for quite a while. Just really haven't been in the mood for writing anything.

Been doing lots and lots of stuff, but just really haven't felt like writing about it. I'm sure I will at some point though.

Half way through the process of moving the whole lot over to a new server and new software (community server for those who care). Should run a lot faster and be a lot prettier too.

Oh, and for those that dont know yet, I've managed to sort myself a contract - through a consulting company, working at UBS. Got myself sorted till mid April now. Not exactly the technology I was planning to use, but makes up for it in other ways.

Anyway, hopefully get back at some point soon, and ramble some more about the many many things I've been up to...

Ciao!

Unemployed, lazing around the house all week, and now I'm off to Barcelona for the weekend.

Can life get any worse??? Smile

Disgusted in NatWest right now...

1. They advertise 'Phones answered 24/7'. Until you ring up and get told 'Our business hours are 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday'. Make up your mind.

2. Rang up the number on the back of the card, which said 'Press 1 for the cheque referral service, press 2 for other enquires'. Pressed 2, got a message that told me to ring customer services, and hung up, without even telling me the number. Could it not have transferred me?

3. Eventually found a number that worked, and rang up to enquire about something, and as soon as I started questioning why he was unable to do anything useful, he hung up on me.

Hmmm... Anyone know a decent UK bank?
